About Us

Welcome to y2mate, a free online YouTube downloader. We built it for anyone who wants to keep a video or its soundtrack for offline use without installing software, creating an account or struggling with complicated settings.

Everything happens right in your web browser: paste a YouTube link, pick a format and save the file to your phone, tablet or computer.

What y2mate Does

y2mate turns a YouTube link into a file you can keep:

• MP3 audio with our YouTube MP3 converter, handy for music, podcasts and lectures.
• MP4 video from 144p up to 1080p with our YouTube MP4 converter, depending on the qualities the original video offers.
• YouTube Shorts in their original vertical format with our Shorts downloader.
• Files of up to 1 GB, completely free, with no sign-up and nothing to install.
• Works in any modern browser on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS.

Our Mission

Our mission is simple: make saving videos for offline viewing quick, free and easy for everyone. We keep our pages light so they open quickly even on slow connections, we keep the number of steps to a minimum, and we keep improving the service based on the feedback we receive.

Use y2mate Responsibly

y2mate is meant for personal use. Please download only videos that you own, that their creator lets you save or that you otherwise have the right to keep, and respect the rules of the platform where they are published. We run y2mate independently: it has no connection to YouTube or Google, and neither company endorses it. You can read more in our Terms and Conditions.
