YouTube MP4 Converter FAQ

What is a YouTube MP4 converter?

It is a free web tool that turns a YouTube link into an MP4 video file you can keep. You paste the link, choose a resolution and download a copy that plays offline, without the YouTube app or an internet connection.

Which video resolutions can I download?

The Video tab lists 1080p, 720p, 360p, 240p and 144p. Full HD 1080p and 720p look sharp on a laptop or TV, while the smaller sizes save space on a phone or a limited data plan. If a video doesn't exist in the quality you click, the converter gives you the nearest one that does.

Does the MP4 file include sound?

Yes. Every MP4 contains both the picture and the audio track, so there is nothing to merge afterwards. If you only need the sound, use the Audio tab on the same page or our YouTube MP3 converter.

Is there a file size limit?

Yes, each file can be up to 1 GB. Long videos in 1080p or 720p can go over that limit; if you see the size message, choose a lower resolution such as 360p, which makes the file much smaller.

How do I download YouTube videos to my iPhone or Android phone?

Copy the link from the YouTube app, open this page in your mobile browser and paste it into the box. Choose a resolution on the Video tab and save the file. Android stores it in the Downloads folder, and on iPhone or iPad, Safari puts it in the Files app under Downloads.

Is it safe to use this YouTube MP4 converter?

Yes. The site uses a secure HTTPS connection, the converter asks for no personal details, and you never have to install a program or extension. The only file you save is the MP4 you choose to download.

How many videos can I convert?

As many as you like. There is no daily quota and no waiting time between conversions, so you can save one video after another.

Why won't a video convert?

Private, deleted and otherwise restricted videos can't be fetched, and a few videos are not available for download at all. Check that the link opens on YouTube without signing in. Download links are also temporary, so if one stops working, paste the video link again for a fresh one.

Can I download any YouTube video I want?

Only download videos you have the right to keep, such as your own uploads, public-domain films and videos whose creator allows it, for example under a Creative Commons license. Please respect copyright and YouTube's Terms of Service, and don't re-upload or share other people's work without their permission.
